The historic town of Eger is famous for its Citadel, which gained importance in the wars with the Osmanli Turkish Empire. The town later evolved into a cultural centre during the 17th and 18th Centuries. Buildings around the main square and especially the Minorite Church are typical examples of the Hungarian baroque style. The wrought iron gates of Henrik Fazola are of unique artistic value. |

Eger is also famous for its viticulture and wines. On our visit to a typical wine-cellar of the region we shall acquaint ourselves with present methods of ecological wine-growing as is done today. Following a short city walk we can listen to a presentation on viticultural practices and wine-growing regions in Hungary, enjoying a late lunch of exquisite Hungarian cuisine. It is a must to taste the famous „Bull‘s blood of Eger“! |
